“It is very important for us that young people have the opportunity to learn about how educational and research processes are carried out at the Georgian Technical University from the very beginning of their school years. Events of this type not only help students choose a field of interest to them, but also motivate them to become students of our university in the future. The real-life environment, modern laboratories, and direct contact with students often play a decisive role in choosing a profession. We conduct such activities for this very purpose,” said Professor Ketevan Kutateladze, Dean of the Faculty of Energy of the Georgian Technical University, summing up the schoolchildren’s visit to the faculty.
As part of one of the successful projects of the Georgian National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (GNEWRC) and the Elizbar Eristavi Energy Training Center established by the GNEWRC, the Faculty of Energy hosted students from various schools in the Kakheti region.
According to Professor Ketevan Kutateladze, the students visited modern, international standard research laboratories, where the university professors and teachers introduced them to the latest developments and development prospects in the energy sector.
“Such an event has an important educational and social function. On the one hand, it helps to raise students’ awareness of the development trends in the energy sector, and on the other hand, it strengthens the relationship between the university and general education institutions. Young people who have the opportunity to get acquainted with the modern educational and research infrastructure and the activities of professors and teachers can make a much more informed choice regarding their future profession. Such practice not only serves to popularize the university, but also forms the future generation, which will be equipped with the necessary competence to cope with the challenges of the energy sector,” says Ketevan Kutateladze.
