Georgian Technical University Expresses Grief Over the Death of Eldar Shengelaia
On behalf of the university community, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, expresses his grief over the death of the world-famous Georgian director and public figure, Eldar Shengelaia, and extends his condolences to his family and relatives.

“We express our deep sorrow over the death of the great Georgian director, the luminary of Georgian cinema, the outstanding creator of our country’s cultural heritage, Eldar Shengelaia.

Eldar Shengelaia’s films: “Blue Mountains, or An Unbelievable Story”, “The Eccentrics”, “An Extraordinary Exhibition” and many others are still relevant today, reflecting the character of the nation and the spiritual values that Mr. Eldar worked to protect and preserve throughout his life.

Of particular note is Eldar Shengelaia’s collaboration with playwright Rezo Gabriadze. This was a brilliant creative tandem that made Georgian cinema famous worldwide with its unique language, humor, and depth. Their work is already the golden fund of Georgian cinema and the cultural heritage of the nation.

On behalf of the Georgian Technical University, I express my condolences to the family, relatives, colleagues, and all of Georgia of Mr. Eldar Shengelaia, for whom he will forever remain a living example of how art can become a mirror of the faith and dignity of the nation.

The name and contribution of Eldar Shengelaia will always remain in our memory. May the Georgian land be light for him,” is stated in the condolence letter of the rector of the Georgian Technical University.
