The Scientific Council of the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the following scientific position:

• Hydrogeology Department: Senior Researcher – 1 staff unit

Applications will be accepted from July 16th to July 18th, 2025, inclusive, from 10:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m., at the address: Tbilisi, Digomi village, St. Nino Street № 6, Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, responsible person: Natela Gelashvili, tel: 597 544 222.

The competition will be held on July 22nd, 2025. The preliminary results of the competition will be published no later than July 22nd, 2025, by the Competition Commission in a visible place and on the Institute’s website.

Applications/complaints regarding violations of the competition rules will be accepted by the Competition Commission until July 25th, 2025.

II. Competition Conditions

Main Conditions of the Competition:

A person who has a doctorate or equivalent academic degree may hold the position of Senior Research Fellow. A person will be elected to the position of Senior Research Fellow for 5 years.

A person wishing to participate in the competition must personally (or through a representative) submit:
a) a duly completed and signed application and questionnaire (forms will be published on the Institute’s website), as well as documentation confirming the information presented in them: diploma, certificate, diploma, certificate, etc. (original and copy);

b) a document confirming scientific/academic degree (original and copy);

c) a document confirming scientific research experience certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;

d) List of scientific and educational-methodical works, certified by the signature and seal of the competent person of the relevant institution/organization or its structural unit (if any);

e) Identity card (original and photocopy); 

f) 2 photographs 3X4;

g) Certificate of conviction for committing a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability and certificate of deprivation of rights.

Note: A person who has already submitted the references mentioned above to the Human Capital Management Department of the University is exempt from submitting additional references.

III. Rules for Conducting the Competition

• The competition will be conducted by the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the University Charter, and the Rules for Hiring Scientific Personnel of the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology. Contestants are required to familiarize themselves with these documents, available on the university and institute websites.

• The competition commission will consider the following factors: the contestant’s qualifications and competencies related to the competitive position, including scientific research, practical experience, and other relevant activities; as well as their achievements, qualifications, experience, and merit. The commission may also consider the results of interviews conducted with the contestants.

• Contestants have the right to appeal the results of the competition in court, by applicable legislation.
