The Scientific Council of the Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the following scientific positions:
- Computational Methods Department: Head of Department - 1.0 staff unit, Researcher - 0.5 staff unit
- Mathematical Modeling Department: Researcher - 1.0 staff unit
- Probabilistic-Statistical Methods Department: Chief Researcher - 0.5 staff unit, Researcher - 0.5 staff unit
Applications will be accepted from July 8th, 2025 to July 10th, 2025 inclusive, from 11:00 to 15:00, at the address: Tbilisi, Gr. Peradze Street № 4, Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics, Room № 201, Contact person: Nino Bokuchava, Tel: 595 65 80 27.
The interview and voting with the candidate(s) selected by the Scientific Council of the Institute for the vacant position of Head of the Department will be held on July 14th, 2025. The results of the voting will be announced by the Scientific Council immediately after the voting on July 14th and will be posted in a visible place at the Institute and published on the Institute’s
website.
The Competition Commission will hold a competition for the vacant position of Chief Research Employee on July 15th, 2025. The initial results will be published by the Competition Commission on or before that date in a visible location and on the Institute’s
website.
Applications or complaints regarding violations of the competition rules will be accepted by the Scientific Council/Competition Commission until July 18th, 2025.
Additional information regarding participation in the competition, including the contestant’s questionnaire, application details, and the time and location of the interview, will also be published on the Institute’s
website.
II. Competition conditions
Main conditions of the competition:
1) Candidates eligible for the position of head of a scientific structural unit at the institute must meet the requirements for either chief scientific employee or senior scientific employee. If a candidate does not currently hold one of these positions, they will be considered elected to the appropriate scientific position upon being elected as head of a scientific structural unit.
2) The position of Chief Scientific Officer may be held by a person who has a PhD or equivalent academic degree and at least 6 years of experience in scientific research activities (which includes not only working in a scientific position in scientific research, higher educational or other specialized institution, but also published scientific publications), scientific publications published or accepted for publication in the last 5 years, including at least 1 in an impact factor (Web of Science) journal, and at least 3 of the remaining publications in a journal indexed in Scopus.
3) A person who has a master’s degree or an equivalent academic degree can hold the position of a scientific employee. A person is elected to the position of a scientific employee (chief scientific employee, scientific employee, head of department) for 5 years.
A person wishing to participate in the competition must personally (or through a representative) submit:
a) A duly completed and signed application and questionnaire (the forms will be published on the Institute’s
website), as well as documentation confirming the information presented in them: diploma, certificate, diploma, deed, reference, etc. (original and copy);
b) Document confirming scientific/academic degree (original and copy);
c) Document/documents confirming scientific-research experience (internship), certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;
d) List of scientific and educational-methodical works, certified by the signature and seal of a competent person of the relevant institution/organization or its structural unit. Journals with an impact factor (Web of Science) should be indicated in the list with the abbreviation “IF”, and journals indexed in Scopus should be indicated with the abbreviation “SJR”;
e) Identity card (original and photocopy);
f) 2 photographs 3X4;
g) Certificate of conviction for committing a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability and certificate of deprivation of rights;
Note: A person who has already submitted the aforementioned certificates to the University’s Human Capital Management Department is exempt from submitting the certificates.
III. Competition Rules
- The competition will be held by the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the University Charter, and the “Rules for Hiring Scientific Personnel of the Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics”, which the contestant will be familiar with at the Scientific Council, the Competition Commission, and on the websites of the University and the Institute;
- The Scientific Council/Competition Commission will consider: the relevance of the candidate’s qualifications and competence to the competitive position, including scientific research, practical and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merit relevant to the profile of the competitive position; as well as (by decision of the Scientific Council/Competition Commission) the results of the interview conducted with the candidate(s);
- The results of the competition may be appealed in court, according to the applicable legislation.
