The GTU Water Polo and Swimming Teams of Aquatic Sports Center “Tonus” Have Won a New Victory
The water polo and swimming teams of the Georgian Technical University swimming pool - “Aquatic Sports Center “Tonus” have successfully competed in local and international tournaments and have won a new victory.

The GTU “Tonus” water polo team has won the national championship among water polo players born in 2007-2008, which is currently underway at the Olympic swimming pool in Tbilisi, and has won the title of Georgian champion.

The water polo players of GTU “Tonus” defeated “Dinamo-1” in the semifinals with a score of 12:9, and in the final, they defeated “Laguna Vere” with a score of 19:8 and won the National Championship Cup.

The GTU Tonus” swimming team competed with enviable success in the international tournament held in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana - “Ljubljana Cup”, in which teams and national teams consisting of athletes of different ages from Georgia, Slovenia, Croatia, Ukraine, Israel, and Bulgaria participated.

The awards of the Ljubljana International Tournament for the GTU “Tonus” swimming team were distributed as follows: Mamuka Shengelia - 1 gold, 2 silver; Sandro Kviloria - 2 gold, 1 silver; Akaki Mghebrishvili - 3 gold; Aleksandre Jikidze - 3 silver; Sali Shcherbaeva - 1 gold, 1 silver.

In addition, GTU “Tonus” swimmer Sali Shcherbaeva won the “Ljubljana Cup” with a total score in her age group (2009-2010), and in the 4X50 freestyle swimming, the Georgian national team, in which GTU “Tonus” swimmer Mamuka Shengelia competed, set a Georgian record.

Archil Ioseliani, Head of the Sports Department of the Department of Student Services, Culture and Sports of the Georgian Technical University, congratulates the water polo and swimming teams of GTU “Tonus” on another important victory.

As Archil Ioseliani notes, the Georgian Technical University, through the development of various types of sports, actively promotes the popularization of a healthy lifestyle among young people, constantly takes care of creating the appropriate environment and opportunities so that physical activity becomes an integral part of the daily lives of the youth.
