The Georgian Technical University Boys’ Volleyball Team won the final match of the 33rd Georgian National Championship (Higher League) and won the national championship title and cup for the third time in a row.
In the decisive match of the championship, which was held at the New Sports Palace in Tbilisi, the GTU club defeated the Gori team in a tense battle with a score of 3:2 and, accordingly, became the winner of this year’s national tournament.
At the final match of the national volleyball championship, the university club was supported by the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, representatives of the university administration, professors and students.
At the award ceremony, which was also held at the New Sports Palace, the President of the Georgian National Volleyball Federation, Giorgi Kartvelishvili, with the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, presented the winning team of the Georgian Technical University with the champion’s cup, medals, and a cash prize of 10,000 GEL.
According to David Gurgenidze, winning the national volleyball championship title for the third time in a row is an important event, which creates a strong motivation for the university and its students to further develop university sports. The rector congratulated the athletes and the club’s head coach, Soso Lobzhanidze, on a worthy victory and wished them further success.
“I sincerely congratulate the university volleyball club on winning the national championship for the third time! This victory confirms the professionalism, perseverance, and team spirit of our team. This victory is not just a sporting event - it is another significant success of the Georgian Technical University.
We are proud that our students win and thus continue the Georgian Technical University sports traditions with dignity. Such achievements greatly increase the youth's motivation and emphasize the importance of university sports and student life.
