The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community, expresses his sorrow over the death of Professor of the Faculty of Power Engineering, a distinguished teacher and scientist - Nana Samsonia, and extends condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students.
“Professor of the Faculty of Power Engineering of the Georgian Technical University Nana Samsonia has passed away at the age of 86 - an outstanding scientist and distinguished teacher who faithfully served the Georgian Technical University raised generations of professionals, and generously gave kindness and love.
Professor Nana Samsonia worked at the Department of Economics and Organization of the Georgian Polytechnic Institute since 1968, and from 1993 to 2021 she headed the “Energy Economics and Management” educational scientific direction of the Faculty of Power Engineering of the Georgian Technical University. She authored several textbooks, including: “Energy Economics, Planning, and Management”, “Market Economics” and “Energy Finance Management”, and in 2003, she co-authored the textbook “Economics of Enterprises of the Heat and Energy Complex” and was awarded the Prize of the Georgian Energy Academy.
For years, Nana Samsonia participated in the projects of the Know-How Foundation. With her direct involvement plans and programs for the transition of the Georgian Technical University to European standards of education were developed, and guidelines were created for the implementation and use of the components of the Bologna Process in the educational process.
With great sadness, we say goodbye to our dear colleague, and on behalf of the university, we express our condolences to Mrs. Nana’s family, the Faculty of Power Engineering, her friends, and educators.
