A jubilee evening dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of Revaz Mishveladze, the People’s Writer of Georgia, novelist, and professor of the Faculty of Law and International Relations of the Georgian Technical University, was held at the Georgian Technical University.

The event, which was attended by the scientific and academic circles, students, the Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Georgia Makvala Gonashvili, poets, and writers, was opened by the Rector of the Georgian Technical University.

As Academician David Gurgenidze stated, Revaz Mishveladze, the author of numerous outstanding novels and laureate of many prestigious awards, reflected the spirit of the Georgian nation and national dignity in his work.

According to the rector, Revaz Mishveladze continues his literary and pedagogical activities.

“The Georgian Technical University celebrates the 85th anniversary of the birth of Revaz Mishveladze, a prominent writer - a person whose contribution to public life is an important example for both his own and the new generation. Mr. Revaz’s personal life is filled with great pain and heroic sacrifice. We pay tribute to the memory of his only son, Archil Mishveladze, who heroically fell in the struggle for the unity of Georgia. Mr. Revaz bore this heaviest burden with dignity, which once again demonstrates his spiritual strength and sacrifice for the country. Today, at the age of 85, Mr. Revaz continues to serve the country, this time by educating the next generation. It is a great honor for us, for the Georgian Technical University, that he is our professor. Revaz Mishveladze shares with students not only knowledge but also spiritual wealth and cultural heritage.

Dear Mr. Revaz, on behalf of the entire university community, I congratulate you on your anniversary. We thank you for the power of words turned into deeds and for the invaluable contribution that you make every day to the development of education and literature. I wish health, peace, and many happy years,” the rector noted in his speech.

Representatives of the university’s scientific and academic circles and guests delivered speeches at the anniversary evening, and Shalva Khetiashvili, a student and member of the GTU Christian Studies Laboratory, read his poem dedicated to Revaz Mishveladze.

As Shalva Khetiashvili noted, Revaz Mishveladze teaches new generations through his lecture course and creativity that knowledge is not just the accumulation of facts, but the awakening of consciousness, that literature is not only art, but also a calling, responsibility, and a path to national identity.

“With the greatest honor and warm emotions, I stand before you today to congratulate you on this special day – your anniversary, on behalf of the students of the Georgian Technical University. Your name, Mr. Revaz, is written in golden letters in the history of Georgian literature and also in the minds of the generations who grew up on and drew inspiration from your work. Your texts reflect the pain, pride, strength, and hope of the nation, which have always accompanied the Georgian people, but your contribution is not limited to literary works alone. Your unwavering devotion to the Georgian language, culture, and national values has a particularly significant impact on us. Your work reminds us of the power of life that has grown from the roots, of the dignity that is love and knowledge of one’s own country. I wish you good health and many years of life!”, noted Shalva Khetiashvili.

At the end of the event, the Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Georgia Makvala Gonashvili presented the jubilee with the Ilia Chavchavadze Gold Medal.
