Four Students Receive Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation Scholarships
Four students with the highest academic performance ratings in four faculties of the Georgian Technical University have received Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation scholarships. In the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, the Educational Foundation will provide all four scholarship holders with a monthly scholarship.

Starting from the spring semester of the current academic year, the highest-ranked bachelor student of the Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development of the Georgian Technical University has the opportunity to receive a monthly scholarship from the Educational Foundation.

The decision regarding the above was made by the founder of the educational foundation, businessman Tamaz Bekaia, and the director of the foundation, Levan Bekaia, in agreement with the rector of the university, academician David Gurgenidze.

The following bachelors with the highest academic performance in the first semester of the current academic year became scholarship holders of the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation from the Georgian Technical University: from the Faculty of Construction - Gega Jerenashvili, a student of the Construction Educational Program; from the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design - Mari Mirianashvili, a student of the Architecture Educational Program; From the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems Engineering - a student of the Animal Husbandry Educational Program Giga Gigilashvili and from the Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development - a student of the Mountain Rural Environment Sustainable Development Educational Program Mariam Bakradze.

The Director of the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation, Levan Bekaia, the Head of the Foundation’s Projects, Goga Chanadiri, and the Head of Communications, Mariam Tsandishvili, met with 21 scholarship students selected from six accredited state higher educational institutions in Georgia, at the Ilia Chavchavadze Literary Memorial Museum, congratulated them on receiving the scholarship, and presented them with scholarship certificates and commemorative gifts. As they noted, each outstanding young person will receive a monthly scholarship of 300 GEL from the Foundation throughout the semester.

Along with the scholarship holders, representatives of the Foundation’s partner universities attended the meeting. Among them were: Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University Tamar Tsereteli, Head of the Educational Process Management Service Zaza Buachidze, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Construction, Professor Gina Gureshidze, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, Professor Gia Natsvlishvili, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems Engineering, Professor Gia Chichinadze, and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Sustainable Mountain Development, Associate Professor Tamar Koblianidze.

At the award ceremony, the scholarship students of the Georgian Technical University thanked the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation and the Georgian Technical University. “Sincere thanks to the Foundation for appreciating our work and success. For us, obtaining a scholarship is not only financial support but also a great motivation for further achievements. We thank our university, which offers us a solid educational foundation and continuous support.”

GTU Vice-Rector Tamar Tsereteli, on behalf of the Georgian Technical University, thanked the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation for encouraging learning and increasing the motivation of young people and wished the scholarship holders success.

“Georgian Technical University attaches great importance to supporting academic success and encouraging students to maximize their abilities. We thank the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation for this important initiative. It is gratifying that the Foundation is constantly expanding its scholarship program. Starting from the current semester the ranks of scholarship holders have been replenished with the highest-ranking students from the Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development of our university. This is the financial support for talented young people and also a serious incentive for their studies and professional development. The Foundation’s scholarship program indicates how important it is for the University to cooperate with organizations that respect and deeply understand the special role of education and science in the progress of the country. Investing in education means supporting the personal development of the younger generation and forming highly qualified specialists and researchers from them, who will undoubtedly have a positive impact on their fields.

On behalf of the Georgian Technical University and its Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, we congratulate our scholarship holders on this significant success. It is gratifying that their hard work, willingness, and determination are appreciated. Along with the state scholarship, they will also be funded by the Independent Educational Foundation and will continue the process of knowledge and discoveries with greater determination. Once again, we thank the Educational Foundation for its partnership. We hope that the support of knowledge seekers through cooperation with universities will continue in the future,” said Tamar Tsereteli.

For information, since its establishment, the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation has had 145 scholarship holders and 27 award winners, including 25 young students and graduates of the Georgian Technical University.

According to the Memorandum of Cooperation signed with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and 6 partner universities, the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation provides a monthly incentive scholarship to bachelors with the highest academic performance in priority faculties every semester and annually awards a one-time bonus to the highest-ranking applicants enrolled in partner universities as a result of the Unified National Exams.
