“The English-language program in Biomedical Engineering at the Georgian Technical University, which successfully passed the international ABET accreditation, allowed me to contribute to the development of healthcare technologies and the improvement of medical transportation systems,” - says GTU doctoral student Nika Gugushvili.

Nika Gugushvili completed his master’s degree in the Biomedical program of the Faculty of Informatics and Management Systems in 2024. Currently, he studies for a doctorate and, in parallel, works at the Caucasus Medical Center (CMC), as the head of the medical equipment management department.

According to Nika Gugushvili, Georgian Technical University provided him with a solid foundation in Biomedical Science, Engineering principles, and most importantly, practical experience in clinical engineering.

He says the university’s state-of-the-art laboratories, collaborations with leading medical institutions, and hands-on learning approach have given him skills that have helped him solve real-world problems; through internships, research projects, and teamwork, he has learned how to combine engineering and medicine so that technology can maximize patient care.

“The most important experience that the Georgian Technical University gave me was the opportunity to understand the management of Medical Paratransport. Under the guidance of professors and industry specialists, I realized how crucial the role of efficient and technologically enhanced medical transportation is. It was this experience that awakened in me the desire to lead and strive for innovation.

The Georgian Technical University provided me with professional knowledge and taught me to be a leader. The education I received here strengthened my self-confidence, gave me flexibility in a changing industry, and gave me a vision that will allow me to make positive changes. Now, as I take steps on my professional path, I do so with great gratitude, ambition, and responsibility to use my knowledge to improve healthcare,” says Nika Gugushvili.
