Today, Georgian national hero Zhiuli Shartava would have turned 81. On this date, Professor Jemal Gabelia, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law and International Relations of the Georgian Technical University, recalls the last, important telephone conversation with Zhiuli Shartava.

On September 18th, 1993, at noon, Jemal Gabelia, the head of the Gali District Criminal Police at the time, received a call from the then Chairman of the Council of Ministers and the Defense Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Major General Zhiuli Shartava.
