Statement from the Board of the International School of Design of the Georgian Technical University on the appointment of an election for the position of Head of the School’s Quality Assurance Service.

Article 25 of the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”, Article 22 of the University Charter approved by Order of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia No. 133/n of September 9th, 2013, “On Approval of the Charter of the Legal Entity of Public Law - Georgian Technical University”, Paragraphs 10 and 11, Articles 27 and 28 of Article 2 of the Regulation “On Conducting Elections of the Governing Bodies (Governing Entities) of the Georgian Technical University and Faculty”, based on the decision taken at the meeting of the International School of Design Council of the University on February 17th, 2025 (Minutes of the Meeting No. 2), 

1. Elections to fill the position of Head of the Quality Assurance Service of the International School of Design will be held on March 12th, 2025.

2. The Head of the Quality Assurance Service will be elected by the School Council for 4 years.

3. The position of Head of the Quality Assurance Service may be held by a person who meets the following requirements:

a) is a professor or associate professor at the Georgian Technical University;

b) has at least 5 years of work experience;

c) The candidate is required to:

• Knowledge of quality assurance standards and guidelines developed by the European Association for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area.

• Knowledge of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation standards and procedures;

• Knowledge of the state language (knowledge of a foreign language is desirable);

• Knowledge of quality management principles in the field of education;

• Knowledge of computer programs - MS Office;

• Sociability, teamwork skills;

Knowledge of the following legal acts:

• Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”;

• Law of Georgia “On Development of the Quality of Education”;

• Law of Georgia “On Professional Education”.

4. Candidates must submit an application and attached documents from February 26th to March 5th, 2025 to the Election Commission of the International School of Design, address: Tbilisi, Kostava 77, GTU Building N8, 2nd floor, room No. 3. Applications are accepted from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, except weekends and holidays.

5. The application must be accompanied by:

a) a copy of an identity document (ID card, passport);

b) a certificate of the academic position held at The Technical University;

c) information on education, work experience, and academic degree;

d) an action plan;

e) documents confirming the candidate’s compliance with the requirements set forth.

6. The Academic Council, by a qualified majority (2/3) of votes, by secret ballot, individually decides on the issue of participation in the competition for an administrative position by a person aged 65 and over. A person of the specified age must additionally submit the consent of the Academic Council to the School Election Commission. For this purpose, he/she must submit an application to the University’s Administrative Department by February 22nd, 2025. The person’s presence at the Academic Council during his issue consideration is mandatory, otherwise, the topic will not be considered.

7. The public presentation of the action plan by the candidates to the School Council will be scheduled for March 11th, 2025.
