Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Lominadze, Head of the Department of Science and Innovations, Professor Mikheil Janikashvili, and researchers from the Faculty of Power Engineering met with Gocha Museliani, Director of “NC Group 2022”.
The working meeting was held within the framework of the cooperation signed between the Georgian Technical University and “NC Group 2022”, where the parties discussed the requirements of the country’s economy, promoting the interaction of the labor market and the education system, the development of higher and vocational education, and the formation of effective partnership relations between the university and the business sector.
According to the Vice-Rector of GTU, establishing a strong partnership between the Georgian Technical University and “NC Group 2022” allows for the training and employment of competitive professionals. It also provides the involvement of scientists and researchers from the Georgian Technical University in large projects that “NC Group 2022” is implementing across the country.
“During the signing of the memorandum between the Georgian Technical University and “NC Group 2022”, the rector, academician David Gurgenidze noted, that the cooperation between the university and the company will be another excellent example of how to create an effective and mutually beneficial, efficient and fruitful partnership between a higher education institution and business. The memorandum envisages full involvement from the university - students, researchers, and professors from almost all faculties will be involved in the planning and implementation of this large-scale energy project in the country. The project envisages the construction of cascade hydropower plants in four municipalities of the Shida Kartli region. This is the second time we have met with the company representatives to implement this grand plan. We have the appropriate base, we can achieve the goal, the implementation of which is important for Georgia, with the involvement of students and scientists,” said Tamar Lominadze.
According to Gocha Museliani, the smooth operation of the company largely depends on the high qualification of the staff, given the fact that “NC Group 2022” plans to implement the project with local forces, therefore, close cooperation with the Georgian Technical University is particularly valuable for the company in terms of attracting young specialists who are educated by European standards.
As he noted, within the framework of the implemented project, bachelor and master students of various faculties will undergo paid internships, after which outstanding young people will be employed with long-term prospects.
