International Public Book Reading Day
At the Georgian Technical University, on the initiative of students and teachers of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, the International Public Book Reading Day was celebrated.

Students, professors, and teachers publicly read fragments from famous texts by Georgian and world classics, as well as modern Georgian and foreign writers, poets, playwrights, publicists, and philosophers, in their original and translated versions. In addition, they offered excerpts from their own works to the gathered audience.

On the occasion of the International Day of Public Reading of Books, the writer and translator Nana Shalamberidze, a member of the board of the Creative Union of Writers, was invited to the university and introduced her work. She also read excerpts from her own works and translations.

According to Professor Taliko Zhvania, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, the International Day of Public Reading of Books is celebrated annually at the Georgian Technical University, and students and teachers enthusiastically participate in the event.

“More than 30 million people from different countries participate in the week dedicated to this date annually. This year, the Georgian Technical University joined this international initiative, thus becoming part of a large-scale event. The main goal is to interest our youth in reading books so much that they contribute to the popularization of reading. It is also important that this strengthens our mutual motivation, so that in the century of accelerated technological progress, rapidly changing innovations, gadgets, and social networks, we can fall in love with reading, share unique impressions, pave the way for young people to boldly put their thoughts on paper, discover talented, novice authors, and encourage their creative abilities,” noted Taliko Zhvania.

As part of the event, each participant read a fragment from a specific book by a particular author.

In addition, students of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems performed famous songs based on poems by Georgian poets.
