The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university, expresses his condolences over the death of Niko Lekishvili, a politician, diplomat, member of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia of the first convocation, one of the signatories of the Act of Restoration of Georgia’s State Independence, honorary citizen of Tbilisi, public figure, and extends his condolences to the society, the Lekishvili family, and relatives.
“The fourth mayor of the capital of independent Georgia, politician, diplomat, and Honorary Citizen of Tbilisi Nikoloz (Niko) Lekishvili passed away at the age of 77. On behalf of the Georgian Technical University, I express my condolences to the Lekishvili family and relatives. The society will always remember Niko Lekishvili for his outstanding personal qualities and professionalism. He deserved great respect for his principled and honest attitude to work. An unquenchable love for life was felt in Mr. Niko’s special attitude towards the youth. He sincerely rejoiced in their successes and freely shared his experience and knowledge.
Once again, I express my deep sorrow over the death of Niko Lekishvili. May the Lord grant him the Kingdom of Heaven, where the righteous rest,” is stated in the condolence letter.
