On December 20th, Vakho Khuzmiashvili, a journalist from the Adjara Television of the Georgian Public Broadcaster, gave a public lecture “The Role of Media in Georgia” to students of the Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies and Social Sciences of the Georgian Technical University.
The meeting was organized by the Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies, and Social Sciences of GTU and the “Research Laboratory of Christian Culture”. The practicing journalist shared his experience and valuable advice with the students on how a journalist should remain faithful to the main values, the foremost of which is serving the truth.
As Vakho Khuzmiashvili noted, the profession of a journalist is not easy, it requires dedication from a person. According to him, a person who chooses the journalist profession must be dedicated to it. In addition, he also spoke about the importance of professionalism, that a journalist must be very prepared when meeting with a respondent, and he/she must be thoroughly familiar with the topic is talking about in the program.
The meeting continued in a question-and-answer mode. At the end of the public lecture, Vakho Khuzmiashvili answered the students’ questions. The speaker suggested the students attend the program on television, which would become a great motivation for the students.
For information: Vakho Khuzmiashvili graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the Georgian Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting. At various times, he worked as a journalist at the TV company “Iberia”; was the head of the channel’s news service; also worked as a producer of “Moambe” on Channel One; producer of the program “Reaction” on the TV company “Imedi”; author and host of the talk show “Free Space”; producer of the news service of TV company Channel Nine.
Currently, Vakho Khuzmiashvili is a journalist at the Adjara Television of the Public Broadcasting Service and was the first deputy director and head of the news service on the same channel. In 2017, he received the prize of the International Fund of Journalists “Golden Wing”.
