On behalf of the university community, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, expresses his sorrow over the death of the famous American scientist, mathematician, Emeritus Raicho Lazarov, a member of the GTU Supervisory Board and extends his condolences to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Texas A&M University (USA).
Raicho Lazarov has been associated with Georgian Technical University for many years of fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity. The university community and students remember him as a generous person, an excellent scientist, colleague, and teacher.
“Raicho Lazarov, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Technical University and a world-renowned scientist in mathematics and computer science passed away at the age of 81.
An excellent researcher, teacher, friend, and colleague - this is how Raicho Lazarov will remain in our memory. He was a scientist who brought scientific research in numerical methods and algorithms to modern development.
On behalf of the scientific and academic circles, employees, and students of the Georgian Technical University, I express my deep sorrow over the death of Professor Raicho Lazarov and extend my condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. May the Lord enlighten his soul in the Kingdom of Heaven,” is stated in the GTU Rector’s condolence message.
