“Many generations of IDP students from the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia have been raised at the Virtual Modeling and Design Center of the Georgian Technical University. They succeeded in such important STEM events as the “Leonardo da Vinci” competition for inventors and researchers of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation.

It is gratifying that the group of students consisting of Davit Vakhtangadze, Lado Adamia, and Mariam Vakhtangadze – made it the final of the competition. The Minister for Internally Displaced Persons of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia got acquainted with their innovative project and offered a very interesting proposal, for which we would like to express our gratitude”, noted Tamar Lominadze.

According to Davit Patsatsia, the Minister for Internally Displaced Persons of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, the ministry will finance the creation of a model of the “Gardener Robot” project of the Leonardo da Vinci finalist team, so that young people can put their invention into production.

“The Georgian Technical University taught our youth the correct development of management skills, and allowed them to demonstrate their talents, for which I thank the university, the Virtual Modeling and Design Center. This year, a youth team displaced from Abkhazia reached the finals of the “Leonardo da Vinci” with a very interesting project. It is significant for us to stand by each young person and care for their success. We offered the finalist group to create a more sophisticated and complete model of their invention, which will be released on the market, and we will assist them in this. The Ministry financed the training process of the finalist team, and we will also provide financial support for their winning project,” said David Patsatsia.

Mariam Vakhtangadze, a member of one of the finalists of the “Leonardo da Vinci” competition for inventors and researchers of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, thanked the university and the ministry for their support.

“Our project is intended for practical use in orangeries and greenhouses and is designed to ease human labor. I would like to thank the Georgian Technical University, the Center for Modeling and Design, and the Minister for Internally Displaced Persons of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia for their support and initiative, which will allow us to refine, develop and offer our project “Gardener Robot” to interested parties,” said Mariam Vakhtangadze.
