The Academic Council of Georgian Technical University has released a statement addressing recent events near the legislative building.

"The Academic Council of Georgian Technical University expresses its concern over the current situation in the country, reaffirming that the university stands as a beacon of knowledge whose primary mission is to educate future generations. These individuals must grow into honorable members of society, embodying National values alongside the highest Western ideals. Our goal is to nurture patriots who, inspired by our great ancestors, will contribute to the progress of Georgia and the broader European and international community. As the renowned Niko Nikoladze once said, “Our path is toward Europe, and our salvation lies in education and literacy.”

We unequivocally reject intolerance and unwarranted aggression toward differing opinions. Democratic principles demand respect for diverse perspectives and the pursuit of dialogue and constructive debate, not confrontation.

The health and well-being of every member of society are of utmost importance. We strongly condemn all forms of violence, whether provoked or perpetrated, against demonstrators or law enforcement officials.

Georgian Technical University affirms its respect for every student’s right to free expression. In cases where disruptions to the educational process occur, the university commits to offering individualized support, ensuring students can complete their academic requirements by the semester’s end.

The university remains steadfast in its commitment to Georgia’s European integration, firmly believing that, through the combined efforts of the government and the unwavering will of the Georgian people, the nation will secure its rightful place in the European family," the statement concludes.
