The presentation of the cultural-educational program – “Georgian Identity” was held at the Georgian Technical University.
Edisher Chelidze, the doctor of philology and theology, held a public lecture – “Grigol Khantseli” within the framework of the cultural-educational program – “Georgian Identity”.
The event, organized by the Scientific Research Center of Theology and the Laboratory of Christian Studies of Georgian Technical University together with “Logos - International Center for Christian Research”, was opened by the rector of Georgian Technical University.
As academician David Gurgenidze stated, the program, which aims to remind and make the population of Georgia aware of the most important stages of history, which determined the values and identity of the country, is implemented with the blessing of a religious and public figure of Georgia, Ilia, His Holiness and Blessed, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia and Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi. It implies the correct implementation of the political, economic, and social integration of the history of Georgia with the modern world, and most importantly, this process should be based on national values and identity.
The purpose of the three-year cultural-educational program – “Georgian Identity” developed by the leadership of Georgian scientists and cultural figures and with the support of the Patriarchate is to remind the population of Georgia of the most important stages of history, which determines the values and identity of the country.
It is a program based on national values, just like other programs initiated by the patriarch. Today, when pseudo-liberals are fighting against national values, the Georgian educational space, and specifically the Georgian Technical University has an important mission.
The Scientific Research Center of Theology has been operating in the university for 23 years, and the laboratory of Christian studies has been established for more than a year, and a new study course - History of the Georgian State and Christian Civilization, led by Reverend Anania, is operating at the Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies, and Social Sciences. Today, Edisher Chelidze, Doctor of Philology and Theology, will introduce the history of the life and work of such a great public and religious figure as Grigol Khantseli to the students of the Georgian Technical University. The unification of Georgia began from the monastery construction of Tao-Klarjeti, which was organized by the Holy Father.
It was an era that each of us is proud of, and according to Giorgi Merchule, Grigol Khantseli, based on the rule of the Sabatsminda monastery, compiled a ctitorial typicon for the members of his brotherhood and composed a hymnography collection – “Satselitsdoy Yadgar” - a liturgical collection for the whole year. This is the beginning of the independence of Georgian spirituality. I am sure that our students know about the life and work of the great father, however, what they will hear today is much more,” said the rector in his welcoming speech.
The event was attended by the High Priest of the Orthodox Church of Georgia, Metropolitan of the Diocese of Chiaturi and Sachkheri, Reverend Daniel and the High Priest of the Orthodox Church of Georgia, Metropolitan of Manglisi and Tetritskaro, member of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Georgia since 1981, head of the Theology Training and Research Center of the Georgian Technical University, full professor, author of real history Reverend Anania, Chairman of the Permanent Commission of the Patriarchate, Head of the Scientific-Research Center for the Study of Objective History of the Georgian University.
The high priests thanked the Georgian Technical University, and the rector, Academician David Gurgenidze for the cultural and educational program – “Georgian Identity” and wished success to the students.
