At the Georgian Technical University, within the framework of events dedicated to the XXIV World Week of the Italian Language, the presentation of the international project – “Offering interdisciplinary teaching of the Italian language to students to promote the activities of “Dante’s Cabinet” at the base of the Technical University of Georgia” was held.
The event was attended by His Excellency Massimiliano D'Antuono, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Georgia, as the head of the XXIV Week of the Italian Language and the partner institution of the project, Nino Kilosanidze - representative of the Culture Department of the Embassy, and the event was opened by the rector of the Georgian Technical University. As the rector noted, within the framework of the existing cooperation between the Dante Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee and the Georgian Technical University, joint international projects at the university are supported by the Italian Embassy and the Dante Alighieri Society Rome head office.
“On our initiative, with the direct involvement of the Dante Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee and with the support of the Georgian Embassy in Italy, a hybrid didactic center – “Dante’s Cabinet” - has been successfully operating for the second year at the Georgian Technical University, where students, scientists, researchers and employees of the university have the opportunity to receive quality education interdisciplinary free courses. It should be noted that any of our citizens can apply to the university and study the Italian language free of charge.
The XXIV World Week of the Italian Language is celebrated worldwide with the slogan – “The Italian Language and the Book - The World Between the Paragraphs”. We are glad that the Georgian Technical University is involved in this process. The first cycle of the international project was funded by the Dante Alighieri Society in 2022, and its success is evidenced by the fact that today, we have gathered here for the official opening of the second cycle of this international project. I would like to thank the Italian government, the Embassy of Italy in Georgia, the Embassy of Georgia in Italy, and the Dante Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee. I wish success to them and our students”, said academician David Gurgenidze in his welcoming speech.
The president of the Dante Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee thanked the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze for the fruitful cooperation.
“I have the honor to convey to the rector of the Georgian Technical University the cordial greetings of the president of the Dante Alighieri Society - Andrea Ricardi and the general secretary - Alessandro Mazz. The most important thing is their great support for the joint international project. I would like to emphasize that academician David Gurgenidze creates all the conditions for the students and professors of the successful university with centuries-old traditions and high international ratings to get even closer to the European space. I want to thank him!
It is important that within the framework of the international project, students will receive an international certificate confirming their level of knowledge - ADA - without leaving the country. I am sure that at the closing ceremony of the second training cycle, as in the first case, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University and the Ambassador of Italy to Georgia, together with the guests from Rome, will present certificates to the graduates. The project allows students at any level of Italian language competence to take exams at our officially recognized exam center, the only one in Transcaucasia, and obtain the PLIDA international certificate of Italian language proficiency, which represents a diploma in the language, as well as TOEFL, Delphi, Dalphi, and others.
By obtaining the Dante Alighieri Society card, students become members of the international network of this famous society and have access to a wide variety of content posted on the Dante Alighieri Society’s digital platform - Dante.Global, can study materials or any news on education, scientific research, Italian culture, traditions, and the public about different areas of life. If necessary, they will have online lessons. With the “Dante” membership card, it is possible to visit the Italian state museums for free, and the Vatican museums - without standing in line. Students benefit from the services of partner companies, both in Italy and Georgia and in various European countries, such as bookstores, theaters, and literary clubs.
