GTU Vice-Rector and the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Visited the University Center of Lithuanian Language, Culture and Education
The vice-rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Lominadze, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia, His Excellency Darius Vitkauskas visited the University Center of Lithuanian Language, Culture and Education - named after Professor Vidas Kavaliuskas, where together with the head of the center, Maria Sulaberidze, within the framework of the 2024-2025 academic year, a new season of Lithuanian language courses was opened.

The meeting was attended by the employees of the University Center of Lithuanian Language, Culture and Education, Thea Murvanidze, the head of the GTU international relations office, students, and professors of the university.

The head of the center, Maria Sulaberidze, introduced the plan of the University Center of Lithuanian Language, Culture, and Education to the gathered community, which will be implemented within the framework of the 2024-2025 academic year. She spoke about the directions of the center’s work, educational and cultural projects, student exchange programs, and opportunities to learn the Lithuanian language using modern technologies. According to Maria Sulaberidze, Lithuanian language courses will be held in several streams at the center. 

The vice-rector congratulated the students on the start of the new academic year and the opening of the latest season of Lithuanian language courses and wished the young people success in their studies and career development.

As Tamar Lominadze noted, the Georgian Technical University has a long and fruitful cooperation with the leading universities of the Republic of Lithuania, which is strengthened by the active work of Professor Vidas Kavaliauskas Lithuanian Language, Culture, and Education University Center.

“At the Georgian Technical University, with the support of the rector, academician David Gurgenidze, the Lithuanian language, culture, and education center is successfully operating, where students learn the Lithuanian language and historical and cultural traditions of Lithuania.

There are various exchange programs and educational projects for students. The young head of the center, Maria Sulaberidze, by implementing mutually interesting initiatives, honorably continues the traditions of the founder of the university center, Professor Vidas Kavaliuskas, and establishes innovative teaching rules, which significantly increased students’ interest in the Lithuanian language and culture.

I would like to thank the governments of Georgia and the Republic of Lithuania, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia, His Excellency Darius Vitkauskas, and his predecessor, Mr. Andrius Kalindra, for their friendship and support to the University Center. Our joint efforts help to bring the youth of Georgia and Lithuania closer together, the scientific and academic circles of the two countries, which creates great opportunities for the scientists of the Georgian Technical University to work together with their Lithuanian colleagues on scientific research and improvement of achievements”, noted Tamar Lominadze. 

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia Darius Vitkauskas thanked the Georgian Technical University and the Rector for supporting the Center of Lithuanian Language, Culture, and Education and for fruitful cooperation with Lithuanian universities.

As the ambassador noted, the support of the Georgian Technical University is of great importance in deepening the friendship between the young generations of the two countries, which will contribute to the expansion of mutual understanding and cooperation between the students and scientists of the Georgian Technical University and Lithuanian higher education institutions.

At the end of the meeting, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania visited the Center of Lithuanian Language, Culture, and Education in Georgia and talked to the students.
