Five Students of Israel Ariel University’s Bachelor's Program – “Viticulture and Winemaking” Undergo Production Practice at GTU
At the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems of the Georgian Technical University, five students of the bachelor’s program “Viticulture and Winemaking” of the Ariel University of the State of Israel are undergoing production practice.

Several students from leading European universities undergo industrial practice at the Georgian Technical University. 

Students of Israel Ariel University arrived in Georgia for the first time. They participate in the production practice of receiving grapes, quality control of raw materials, processing, and making wine in Kvevri and other oenological processes.

According to Academician Edisher Kvesitadze, dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems of the Georgian Technical University, the purpose of the wine production practice for the students of Ariel University is to participate in the Georgian viticulture and winemaking, Georgian rare grape varieties, classical and Georgian traditional production method of winemaking, and to share and introduce the Kvevri phenomenon.

Shivi Drori, professor of Israel Ariel University, researcher of ancient wines and grapes of Israel, world-famous winemaker and wine director of the Samson family, visited the Department of Viticulture and Winemaking of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Bio Systems Engineering of the Georgian Technical University on a two-day working visit.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss and develop plans from a scientific and international point of view within the framework of cooperation between the two Georgian Technical and Ariel University.

Within the framework of the visit, we discussed future cooperation plans with the involvement of the head of the Department of Vineyards and Winemaking, Professor Nino Chkhartishvili, and the expert of the same department, Professor Davit Maghradze. The conversation also touched on the issues of scientific projects and the holding of the international congress. 

Within the framework of the visit, Shivi Dror visited five students of Ariel University in the regions of Kartli and Kakheti to undergo international practice.

It is worth noting that the international production practice is carried out within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation signed in 2022 between the Georgian Technical University and Israel Ariel University, which will take on an even broader character in the future”, said Edisher Kvesitadze.

For one month, the students of Ariel University of the State of Israel are visiting the successful wine enterprises of the Kartli and Kakheti regions - “Chateau Mukhrani” and “Wine Company Shumi”, which are involved in the development and strengthening of the bachelor’s and master’s programs in viticulture and winemaking of the Georgian Technical University and promote local and international students to develop practical skills.
