The rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community and students, congratulates Zaza Nadiradze, a master’s student of the Faculty of Construction, also the world and European champion in rowing, participant of the 2016 Olympic Games, president of the Georgian Canoe and Rowing National Federation, on winning the bronze prize of the 2024 World Canoe Championship.
Zaza Nadiradze - a student of the Faculty of Construction of the GTU, covered the 200-meter distance single-seat canoe in 39.18 seconds at the current World Championship in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. With his result, he was only slightly behind the Polish and Spanish rowers who took the first and second places and took the third prize place.
“Georgia was glorified by another athlete and as a result of unrelenting competition, he became the bronze medalist of the World Championship. On behalf of the professors and students of the Georgian Technical University, I congratulate our student, master of the Faculty of Construction, famous rower, world and European champion, and the president of the National Canoe and Rowing Federation, Zaza Nadiradze, on winning a bronze medal at the World Canoe Championship. It is gratifying that the Georgian Technical University is not only distinguished by the training of young professional staff but is also considered the alma mater of world-class athletes and champions - rowing is no exception. We wish him many worthy successes in his sports career and chosen profession. We believe that Zaza Nadiradze will glorify Georgia many times,” said rector David Gurgenidze.
