The team of Georgian Technical University students - Nika Kharchilava, Beka Khabuliani, Zuka Kariauli, Giga Ushveridze, Giorgi Liparteliani, David Kiphiani, Lasha Kakachia, and Rati Kelaptrishvili, won the gold cup of “Summer Universiada 2024” in sand football.
Within the framework of the “Summer Universiada 2024”, in the sand football tournament, which took place in Kobuleti, the student team of the Georgian Technical University beat the team of the Caucasus International University in the semi-final match, and in the final - the team of the Georgian National University (SEU), subsequently, became the winner of the sand football and the owner of the Golden Cup.
The Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the professors and students of the Georgian Technical University, congratulated the university football team and the coaches - Lasha Tsnobiladze and Giorgi Khuroshvili on winning the gold cup of the “Summer Universiada” and wished the students success in sports and studies.
The Rector noted that it is joyful when students successfully continue university sports traditions and bring a new victory to the GTU by competing in various tournaments.
As Archil Ioseliani, the head of the sports department of GTU said, “Summer Universiada 2024" ended with the successful competition of the Georgian Technical University football team.
He congratulated the university team on the victory. He noted that the players of GTU also succeeded in the Futsal tournament held within the framework of this year’s “Summer Universiada”, improved their ranking, and moved from the University League I to the higher league.
As Archil Ioseliani informed, the football student team of the Georgian Technical University will continue to train actively to achieve further success.
“Summer Universiade 2024" was organized by the Georgian University Sports Federation and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia.
The purpose of the event is to activate the involvement of young people in university sports and promote a healthy way of life.
