The student teams of the Georgian Technical University won first place in the large-scale youth festival – “Studfest 2024” - in competitions and contests in intermedia, sports, and the Georgian League, in total, in 8 nominations.
The jury of the student festival, in the direction of intermedia, recognized the performance of the student troupe of the Public Theater Studio “Modinakhe” of the Georgian Technical University as the best performance in the competition held among university theaters. GTU team “Sherekilebi” won first place in the nomination – “Georgian League”, and university sports teams won first place in the following sports: 3x3 basketball (boys); Volleyball (boys); Volleyball (girls), tennis (boys); Billiard (girls).
The concluding event of “Studfest 2024” was opened by the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, who congratulated the winning universities and student teams on their success and awarded them special prizes.
The final event of the youth festival was attended by deputies of the Parliament of Georgia, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Tbilisi City Hall and Tbilisi City Council, students-youth of various higher education institutions, professors and leaders, among them were: President of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Technical University of Georgia - Professor Zurab Gudavadze; Heads of Student Services, Culture and Sports Department of GTU, university creative groups; President of Students self-government and members, and winning university teams and students.
The Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the Georgian Technical University, congratulated the sports teams and their coaches, the university creative groups and their artistic directors, and all the students of the university on the successful completion of “Studfest 2024” and winning worthy victories.
“We heartily congratulate all universities and young people on the success achieved at the student festival. We especially congratulate our students who spared no effort, selflessly competed in intense tournaments and art competitions, and brought eight first places to the Georgian Technical University. It is gratifying that our students continue the world-famous sports and artistic traditions of the Georgian Technical University with a great attitude. We believe that holding such large-scale student events contributes not only to the promotion of university self-creation and sports but also to the presentation of the talents and skills of young people and making friends with students from different universities. We hope that the student teams of the Georgian Technical University will compete much harder at the upcoming “Studfest” and bring more victories to their native alma mater”, said the Rector David Gurgenidze.
“Studfest 2024” was held at the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and organized by the LEPL Youth Agency of Georgia, Tbilisi City Hall, and the Association of Georgian Student Organizations. This year’s festival has about 25,000 participants and 665 winning students. Within the framework of the festival, sports tournaments between universities, cultural and creative events, competitions between university theaters, volunteer activities, educational activities (debates, City Game, essay competition), and STEM marathon were held throughout Georgia, which allowed young people to participate in various activities in the direction of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
