The boys’ volleyball team of the Georgian Technical University, student members - Petre Lobzhanidze and Zurab Mukbaniani, became the winner of the “Summer Universiada 2024” in sand volleyball and the owner of the gold cup.
Within the framework of “Summer Universiada 2024”, in the sand volleyball tournament, which took place in Kobuleti, participated the student teams of boys and girls of the Georgian Technical University. The coach of the university team in volleyball is Sulkhan Akhvlediani.
In the final match, with a score of 2:0, the volleyball team of the Georgian Technical University beat the team of Ilia State University won the gold cup of “Summer Universiada 2024” in sand volleyball, and became the unconditional winner of the tournament.
The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community and students, congratulated the volleyball players on winning the gold cup and wished them success in their sports career and studies.
“On behalf of the administration, professors, and students of the Georgian Technical University, I congratulate our university team on the victory. Our young people honorably continue the sports traditions of the Georgian Technical University, actively participate in tournaments on behalf of the university, and win - we thank them and promise the support of the university administration,” said the Rector David Gurgenidze.
Archil Ioseliani, the head of the sports department of GTU, congratulates the boys’ university volleyball team on their victory.
As he noted, “Summer Universiada 2024” will end with a sand soccer tournament. As he informed, the game in sand football will start on July 1st of this year, and the student team of the GTU will participate in it, which will also justify the hope of the university and win a prize place.
“Summer Universiade 2024” is organized by the Georgian Federation of University Sports and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia. The purpose of the event is to activate the involvement of young people in university sports and to promote a healthy way of life.
