“Thanks to Bidzina Ivanishvili, the future generations of Georgia will be proud of the Holy Trinity Cathedral, more than 500 varieties of unique Georgian vines, the masterpiece by Pirosmani – “Mountain of Arsenal at Night” and already, a handwritten book of Ioane-Zosime; this alone would be enough for history.
Bidzina Ivanishvili returned and saved many masterpieces that had disappeared from the national treasures of the country”, - the rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze, responded to the fact that Bidzina Ivanishvili bought the manuscript book of Ioane Zosime dated 979 years at the Christie's auction in London and on behalf of the university community, congratulated the Georgian people on the preservation of another priceless monument and its establishment in the homeland.
“On behalf of the Georgian Technical University, I congratulate the return of Ioane-Zosime’s handwritten book to his homeland.
On behalf of the university’s scientific-academic circles and students, we would like to thank Bidzina Ivanishvili, for purchasing and handling the handwritten immortal hymn – “Praise and Glory of the Georgian Language” over to the National Museum of Georgia.
Although the manuscripts of Ioane-Zosime are preserved in various museums and churches around the world, unfortunately, none of them have been preserved in Georgia - this is the first case, which gives us the right to say that the fact of handing over a unique book to the National Museum is highly appreciated”, - is mentioned in the statement of the rector, Academician David Gurgenidze.
