Within the framework of the events dedicated to April 9th, students of Georgian Technical University met the participants of April 9th and veterans of the war and military forces.
The event – “Georgia, The forge of Heroes”, which was attended by veterans: Malkhaz Topuria, Zaira Mikatadze, Malkhaz Chemia, Guri Zakareishvili, and other guests, was opened by the president of the student club of “Michel Muskheli”. As Sandro Chadashvili mentioned in his speech, 21 heroes were sacrificed to the relentless and cruel raids of the Soviet regime, and many people were injured and poisoned.
“Students who stood up to injustice and sacrificed themselves to fight for freedom were our coevals. They did the almost impossible, broke the empire in its spine. We have no right to forget what happened and must selflessly serve the homeland. 35 years after the tragedy of April 9th, we are building the country, are moving forward, we will soon become a member of the European Union, and all this would not have happened without the sacrifice of thousands of devoted people. Today, the participants of April 9th are attending our event, and I want to thank them for every day, for the spirit that saved our homeland. Glory to the heroes, and may the Lord protect Georgia”, said Sandro Chadashvili.
Mamuka Giorgadze, Malkhaz Tofuria, Zaira Mikatadze, Malkhaz Chemia, Guri Zakareishvili, direct and active participants of the tragic and heroic events of April 9th, spoke to the students about the historical event of April 9th. At the end of the event, the guests answered the students’ questions.
