Training Announcement
 
SPAMGO training centre (STC) is pleased to announce trainings in Environmental Administration.
 
STC is based at the Georgian Technical University (GTU). The project was supported by the European Commission through the Tempus programme. STC training concept has been developed in close collaboration with the University of Nottingham, UK and Adelphi Research, Germany.
 
The staff and Training Modules
 
15 highly qualified and internationally trained Georgian trainers provide short courses incorporating EU experiences adapted to the Georgian context. Trainings are delivered in Georgian and cover the following modules/disciplines:
 
M1 – Water and Sanitation
M2 – Energy
M3 – Landscape Ecology and Biodiversity
M4 – Transport
M5 – Communications and Knowledge Management
M6 – Project Management
 
Brief Descriptions of Training Modules
Module 1 – Water and Sanitation
The aim of the course is to provide series of lectures on water sanitation practices of EU; such as legislative measures, transboundary river management, Integrated Water Resources Management, Europe's water quality and quantity issues, Water and Health considerations.
 
Module 2 – Energy
The aim of training course is to provide up-to-dated knowledge in implementation of energy security measures for representatives of public administration, media and other civil servants. In the frame of energy security there are different sub-topics considered; such as renewable energy sources introduction, CDM, emission trading, energy efficiency and audit. Broad attention is given to inter dependence of energy security and environment protection.
 
Module 3 – Landscape Ecology and Biodiversity
The aim of this module is to introduce the concept and ideas of biodiversity and then to outline the main principle of landscape ecology.  Module is divided into 3 sections. The first section is “biodiversity”; the second - “how to maintain biodiversity” on example of Forest planning and practice; third part – “landscape ecology”.
 
Module 4 – Transport
The purpose of this course is to provide wide-ranging understanding of main aspects of sustainability and environmental management. Rise awareness on the basic environmental problems associated with transport (air pollution, noise, human health, loss of biodiversity, climate change, etc.).  During the course issues of energy security, and related to this causes of political instability, associated with transport will also be considered. Finally course will offer possible solutions and respective policy instruments.
 
Module 5 – Communication and Knowledge Management
The participants will understand the structure of communication process and its components. They will learn how to overcome the obstacles raised is the process of communication. The participants will get skills about active listening, feedback, presentation and brainstorming techniques.
 
Module 6 – Project Management
The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the concepts of project cycle management to the public administrators. By the end of the course attendees will have an understanding of what is project management, which steps are involved in project identification, development, implementation and evaluation, and which project management tools are available.

How to apply
Interested candidates should fill out the application form and send it to SPAMGO coordinator Giorgi Japharidze at gjaparidze@hotmail.com, or deliver in person from 12 till 5 PM at: 77 Kostava Street, 9th building of GTU (behind the Administrative building), 3rd floor, rooms 307- 308.
 
Upon reviewing the application form STC will contact the applicant to inform that he/she is selected to attend the training and then applicant deposits or transfers money to TBC bank account number: 38634080100001.

The maximum size of one training class is 15, the minimum size is 6. In case there is no sufficient number of participants for any module, the money will be returned to applicants.
 
Please keep the deposit receipt with you until training is over.
 
Certificates
 
All participants will be awarded with official certificate.
 
Other
 
All training materials as well as handouts at the end and coffee breaks will be provided by SPAMGO.
