In Rustavi, GTU held a meeting with the entrants

The Technical University of Georgia, with the initiative and support of the rector, academician Davit Gurgenidze, in Rustavi, with the support of the Rustavi City Hall and the Resource Center, organized by the Study Process Management Service of the Technical University of Georgia, held an outing event to meet the entrants.

The event, in which 650 students from 26 public and 7 private schools of Rustavi took part, was held in the big hall of the Rustavi Drama Theater named after Giga Lortkifanidze.

The event was opened by the vice-rector of the Technical University of Georgia, associate professor Tamar Tsereteli, and the deputy rector, Professor Tamar Lominadze.

The Deputy Rector of GTU thanked the Rustavi City Hall and Resource Center organizers for supporting the event and school students for participating. According to Professor Tamar Lominadze, the meeting with entrants aims to familiarize them with the educational programs in detail.

“Established in 1922, the first engineering university in Georgia maintains its leadership position with diverse and unique engineering and technical directions. In 2022, GTU celebrated its 100th anniversary, and this date became a new starting point for the university’s goals and challenges. At the Technical University of Georgia, 69 educational programs, including English-language programs, operate at the bachelor’s level. Of these, 36 programs, including construction; energy and electrical engineering; architecture; mathematics; engineering physics; agricultural technologies; food technology; forestry work; agricultural engineering; animal husbandry; agronomy; soil and water resources engineering; chemistry; Mechanical engineering and technology; industrial engineering and technology; mining and geoengineering; engineering geodesy; geology; engineering safety and emergency management; control systems, automation and test engineering; biomedical engineering; metallurgy; material science; viticulture and enology; sustainable mountain tourism and hospitality management; Management of organic farming systems in mountainous regions; natural hazards, sustainable environment and protection; sustainable development of mountain village environment; chemical and biological engineering; environmental engineering; digital telecommunication systems; Transport, is fully financed by the state. It is worth noting that in 2023, the English-language undergraduate educational program of the Faculty of Informatics and Management Systems – “Biomedical Engineering” for the first time in the history of the university, won the international full accreditation of the American Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). University students and academic staff, within the framework of “Erasmus +” mobility, successfully participate in exchange programs in various European higher education institutions. Researchers and, most importantly, students of the Technical University of Georgia participate in global international projects and experiments, such as ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN; COMET experiment at Japan’s KEK and J-PARC, DUNE experiment at American Fermilab. In addition, we have a close scientific collaboration with the Jülich Research Center and Helmholtz Dresden-Rosendorf (HZDR), leading European and American universities, and scientific centers. We wish you good luck, and we are waiting for you at the Technical University of Georgia”, said Tamar Lominadze in her speech.

According to the head of the educational process management service, students at the Technical University of Georgia receive an education corresponding to the European standard, and there is a student employment program at the university. According to Zaza Buachidze, the career development department of the educational processes management service organized an employment forum twice, during which dozens of students were employed.

“Caring for the career development of students and graduates is one of the main tasks of the Technical University of Georgia. The university promotes the formation of the next generation as professional specialists and the development of higher and professional educational programs. Maintaining a continuous connection with the employing organizations and filling them with professional staff who have graduated is one of our missions. It should be emphasized that the employing state organizations and the private sector achieve great success with qualified specialists trained in our university”, said Zaza Buachidze.

According to associate professor Nato Katamadze, the head of the career development department of educational process management, the event was held in three stages, and all 13 faculties of the Technical University of Georgia participated in it.

“The first part of the three-stage event was held in the courtyard of the Giga Lortkipanidze Rustavi Drama Theater, where the faculties presented a kind of show to the entrants. The pupils viewed various engineering and architectural constructions, took part in chemical experiments, and were actively involved in the work of virtual laboratories. It was a beautiful and, dare I say it, grand spectacle, the likes of which, as the entrants declared, they had never seen. The deans of all 13 faculties gave exhaustive answers to the students. The graduates of the Technical University who work in Rustavi also have taken part in the event. I’d like to thank the Rustavi City Hall, the mayor personally, Mrs. Nino Latsabidze, the resource center, the representatives of school administrations and self-governments, and everyone who has contributed to conducting the interesting event”, said Nato Katamadze.

At the end of the event, the troupe of the People’s Theater of the Technical University of Georgia – “Modinahe” - presented to the audience with Lasha Tabukashvili’s play “Spring Beyond the window shutters”.
