Direction - environment design

Aimed at the complex organization of urban environment design, the planning of highly comfortable public spaces with subject fillers, and as a result, the creation of a unique face of the city, the environmental design courses are integrated at all three levels of the educational programs implemented at the faculty.

The direction is led by highly qualified teachers, recognized in the field, engaged in scientific and practical activities: Nino Khabeishvili (head of the department), Nugzar Khvedeliani, Giorgi Tsulukidze, Mariam Khabeishvili, Avtandil Digmelashili, Gia Rokva, Irina Makovkina, Manana Khvedeliani, Davit Kiknavelidze, Zurab Karamurza, Nutsa Demetrashvili.

Direction of architectural constructions and architectural physics of buildings 

     The direction of architectural constructions and architectural physics of buildings, which was created in 2006 on the basis of the chair of architecture of civil and industrial buildings (hereinafter, architectural constructions), has existed since 1971 and is successfully functioning as part of the Faculty of Architecture.

The main goal of the direction is to teach students the features of the architectural-planning and construction structure of buildings, the principles of energy efficiency and sustainable development, so that by using this knowledge in the process of conducting practical activities, they can solve the designed buildings, their separate structural elements, nodes and details and Processing at the appropriate design level. 

An important part of educational programs is the study of architectural physics issues (climatology, insolation, illumination, thermal physics, architectural acoustics), without which it is impossible to create a modern perfect architectural project.

The department is staffed by highly qualified teachers who are engaged in scientific and practical work in the field of architecture and architectural physics. Among them are doctors of architecture, full and associate professors, teachers. 

The direction serves both the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, as well as the Faculty of Construction.

The department's employees teach the following courses at the Faculty of Architecture: "Constructions in Architecture" (Parts I, II and III), "Architecture and Constructions of Buildings", "Architectural-Construction Systems of High-Rise Buildings". At the Faculty of Construction - lecture courses in the following subjects: "Architectural Planning and Urban Planning", "Architecture of Buildings and Structures." In addition to lecture courses, professor teachers of the department conduct courses in course design, as well as practical and laboratory work.

               Such differentiation of the above-mentioned disciplines is due to specific requirements for teaching architectural planning, which takes into account the peculiarities of different specialties. 

Teaching in the field is carried out at all three levels of educational programs: bachelor's, master's and doctoral.

From the day the department was established until 1984, it was headed by Professor Akaki Berishvili. From 1984 to 1994, Doctor of Architecture, Professor Tengiz Kvirkvelia. From 1995 to 2006 - Doctor of Architecture, Professor Davit Chichua, and from 2006 to 2015, Doctor of Architecture, Professor Levan Beridze. and since 2015 - Professor Vakhtang Pirtskhalava.

Today, Jumber (Jondo) Malaghuradze, Gia Natsvlishvili, Bidzina Berishvili, Vakhtang Pirtskhalava, Giorgi Mukhiashvili, Giorgi (Gia) Beridze, Zakaria Shavadze are successfully working in the department.

During the existence of the department, in addition to the colleagues mentioned above, the following persons worked at different times: Valerian Gagoshidze, Vladimir Nikoladze, Hamlet Mosulishvili, Lali Kandelaki, Eldar Chkheidze, Nestan Razmadze, Marina Nareshelashvili, Ilia Dogonadze, Enver Chikovani, Irine Gagoshidze, Tamar Landia, Givi Eristavi, Tinatin Eristavi, Aleko Korkotashvili, Platon Khukhia, Maka Malaghuradze, Giorgi Levanashvili and others.

The members of the department have issued manuals, methodological instructions, as well as auxiliary manuals and normative documents. Members of the department have patented inventions.

A large part of the department's employees are practicing architects. They successfully combine their practical activities with scientific-pedagogical work.
