Resume. The article discusses the different stages of the built environment life cycle, including the extraction  of raw materials from the earth, processing and manufacturing of building materials, the construction process, operation or use of buildings, maintenance and repair,   refurbishment and eventual disposal or reuse of materials or final disposal of waste. In the context of these stages the article focuses on the negative impact of buit environment life
There are justified more sustainable approaches to human construction activities, including the use of renewable energies, the development of clean technological processes of production, waste reduction and better ways of their treating in terms of improvement of the current standards of living.
