The laboratory has been operating since July 2011 (GTU rector's order No. 647/03, 18.07.2011). The laboratory conducts its activities on the basis of the regulation approved by the resolution No. 466 of the Academic Council of GTU on June 10, 2011 and the decision No. 5 of the Representative Council of July 22, 2011.

The laboratory is equipped with modern scientific research equipment and devices.

The staff of the laboratory consists of highly qualified scientific personnel and young promising specialists - graduates of the Faculty of Construction.

The material-technical base of the laboratory practically perfectly allows to perform at a high level the laboratory works provided by the training programs of the Civil Construction, Engineering Mechanics and Construction Technical Expertise, Construction Technologies and Building Materials and Road Construction Departments of the Faculty of Construction. The process of conducting laboratory work is provided by appropriate methodical guidelines.

The laboratory also has a special auditorium equipped with technical facilities, where it is possible to demonstrate modern construction technological processes and tele versions of laboratory works.

The unique equipment in the laboratory allows us to carry out high-tech scientific research and expert work, which was previously possible only by inviting foreign specialists and using the laboratory base of a foreign country.

The laboratory is accredited by the "Unified National Accreditation Body-Accreditation Center" in accordance with the requirements of the international standards of "ISO" ISO/IEC 17025:2010.

The laboratory base is actively used in the process of performing scientific research works. In the past period, more than ten experimental parts of doctoral theses were performed using laboratory equipment, more than 30 scientific articles were published in various journals, including materials of international conferences.

At the same time, using the laboratory base, a number of expert works have been performed on the industrial, civil and transport communication facilities under construction in Georgia: facilities under construction in Tbilisi, Tbilisi residence Gardens, Didgori 2006, Park Town JSC,  Metra Park, M2 Ltd, Tamarashvili 13 Ltd – Hippodrome Territory, Hilton Hotel under construction at: Chavchavadze ave. 64, Axis Ltd, Sairme Palace, Acad. Chapidze Clinic,  „Unix construction and development  group”.,  Astoria Ltd – Examination of the load-bearing structures and foundations of the historical building located in Chitadze Street in Tbilisi, "Iveria" Foundation for the Construction of the Cathedral named after the Icon of the Mother of God of Iveria – Control of reinforcement, concrete, reinforced concrete construction of the church-monastery complex of Makhata Mountain, Assessment of the technical condition of the basement, measuring and determining the area of the asphalt concrete coating by order of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, execution of works commissioned by the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia.

Karsi-Akhalkalaki railway, in Kutaisi - examination of multi-profile hospital complex, in Gudauri township - "Gudauri" hotel, Borjomi - investigation of trade office center constructions, "Gza" LLC - examination of the foundation of the Batumi intercity bus station, "Vako" LLC - Kutaisi, examination of the reinforcement of electrical transmission stands, "Vertical" LLC - determining the concrete strength of the roadway of the customs checkpoint, "Mshenebeli 80" LLC - control of the concrete strength of the channel leading to Gori, Saltvisi, LLC "New Road" - evaluation of the concrete cover of the access road to the Norio landfill;

Examination of the runway of the Aviation University - Telavi Airport, examination of the carrying capacity of the bunker under the existing meteorological observatory building of the "Capiteli" LLC - Kutaisi International Airport;

Examination of hydrotechnical facilities: "Khrami HPP-1", "Ritseula HPP", "Enguri hpp", LLC "Alter Energy" - author supervision of hydroelectric power plant works - "Mtkvari HPP";

Works have also been performed by order of companies registered in foreign countries.
