The Road Department is an educational-scientific organizational unit of the Faculty of Construction, which provides educational-methodical and scientific-research activities within the scope of the educational program/programs.

The main goal of the Road Department is to train transport construction (engineering) specialists who are competitive on the international labor market with the competence to meet modern requirements.

Main objectives of the Road Department

Training of persons with higher academic education - bachelors and persons with professional education - specialists oriented to practical activities; training of persons with higher academic education - masters and doctors - oriented on scientific-research activity.

The Road department provides educational programs in the subjects defined for the Department in accordance with the syllabus and schedule; creates and/or participates in creation of new educational programs and modification of existing programs; implements methodical provision of the educational process (preparation of manuals and other teaching-methodical materials), introduction of new educational programs; ensures improvement of the quality of studying through the effective use of existing teaching methods, the introduction of new teaching methods and technologies, and the improvement of the educational process; organization provides scientific research work of students; provides topics and supervisors for master's and doctoral students; contributes to the training of educational and pedagogical personnel and raising their qualification.

In accordance with the profile of the road department (railways, highways and airports, bridges and tunnels, road infrastructure), it establishes cooperative connections and cooperates with educational-scientific structural units of other higher education institutions and scientific-research organizations.

Carries out and coordinates scientific research, conducts scientific-methodical seminars, gives expert conclusions on scientific-research works and projects on the basis of the relevant auxiliary educational-scientific unit - laboratory of the Faculty of Construction; carries out professional improvement and retraining of specialists in the field of transport construction, involving employees and students of the Department in scientific-research activities to ensure close connection of scientific activities with the educational process; reviews master's qualification and doctoral theses; cooperates with enterprises and organizations in accordance with the engineering profile (railways, highways and airports, bridges and tunnels, road infrastructure) and promotes employment of graduates; actively participates in the process of designing, building and operating complex objects of transport infrastructure, in order to develop practical skills for students and to ensure permanent connection with the engineering practice of professors and teachers.

Main activities of the Road Department are:

Implementation of bachelor's, master's and doctoral academic and professional education programs in the field of transport construction; Conducting scientific-research works; expert and consulting activity.
