The Faculty of Business Technologies is the legal successor of the Faculty of Business Engineering, which in turn was the legal successor of the Humanitarian-Technical Faculty, and it was established in GTU in 1992. The first dean of the faculty was professor Aleko Tsintsadze, in 2005-2006 the faculty was headed by professor Ketevan Kokrashvili, and from December 2006, professor Rusudan Kutateladze was elected to the position of dean of the faculty.

As a result of the reorganization of the Faculty of Business Engineering, three faculties were created by the order #82 of GTU dated May 24, 2016.

The concept on which the faculty was based was innovative for its time, as it was completely focused on the demand of the international educational market. 

The Faculty of Business Technologies implements educational programs of all three levels of education.

Bachelor's Degree: Public Administration; Business Administration; Business Administration (Russian); banking and financial technologies; Hotel services.

Master's Degree: Business Administration; Business Administration (English); management of banking processes; public administration; public administration (Russian speaking); Management of hotel services. 

PhD: Business Administration; public administration. 

The faculty has a structure corresponding to modern educational requirements - academic departments, teaching laboratories and scientific research institutes.

The Academic Department of Business Administration actively continues to work on the improvement of study programs at all levels and plans to develop new bachelor's and doctoral programs in English. The global processes of society and economy changes developed in Georgia at the beginning of the XXI century made it necessary to develop effective methods of management and teaching organization of the Business Administration Department, to implement appropriate management of the market economy. The department conducts researches related to new fields of management: ethnomanagement, entropy management, synergetics management.

The goal of the Department of Finance and Banking Technologies is to train highly qualified specialists and researchers in the fields of finance and banking and the ability to use innovative methods, in accordance with competitive international standards. Meritorious professors and practicing bankers lead the educational process in the department.

The Department of Public Administration and Electronic Business is actively involved in the scientific and educational activities of the Georgian Technical University. High qualifications of professors, business, collegial atmosphere create all conditions for students to self-realize and acquire thorough knowledge. The department has a concept of university education of public administration, where the issues of the necessity of teaching public administration are discussed and substantiated.

The Academic Department of Tourism and Marketing was established in 2021. Based on the mission of GTU, the goal of the department is to train highly qualified specialists and researchers in accordance with competitive international standards.

During the implementation of bachelor's and master's educational programs of hotel services, special importance is attached to high level of production practices in Tbilisi hotels.

The academic department of accounting, analysis and auditing started functioning in 2021. Participates in the development of new educational programs according to competence; collaborates with students, employers and professional organizations.

Among them, the relationship with the "Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors of Georgia" is particularly noteworthy. Based on the memorandum, the textbooks were handed over to us, and the training courses studied with us will be considered passed for those who wish to continue their studies at BAF.

The educational and scientific-research laboratory of banking technologies, named after Professor Zurab Chkhaidze, was established on March 1, 2010 in the direction of finance and banking affairs, with the help of one of the commercial banks. A complete model of modern banking institutions created in the laboratory and an automated management system of the banking infrastructure, students have the opportunity to practically carry out various banking operations in the real system. The head of the laboratory is Zurab Chkhaidze, Academic Doctor of Business Administration.

The Local Self-Government Research Laboratory has been operating since 2012. From the day of its creation, the activity of the laboratory was carried out in the direction of researching the problems of local self-government, which is very relevant and important in the modern situation. The main task of the laboratory is to study and analyze the problems of local self-government using scientifically analyzed and modern research methods, and to develop recommendations for solving these problems, as well as to equip future civil servants with appropriate knowledge. The head of the laboratory is Professor Shota Dogonadze.

The Institute of Business and Law implements the master's concept of the faculty, within which theoretical-applied projects of business humanization and socialization are developed. A number of qualification papers have been prepared on this topic. The institute actively implements the internationalization program. To implement the set tasks, the institute actively cooperates with the state institutions interested in the problem, as well as with international organizations and both local and foreign specialists interested in specific topics.

Students of all three levels are actively involved in the research work of the institute. The results of the researches are properly reflected in the materials of local and international conferences, periodicals, monographs, basic and auxiliary manuals.

The institute is headed by Doctor of Sciences, Professor Anzor Abralava.

The Institute of Public Administration Problems was established in 2017 by a joint resolution of the Academic and Representative Council of GTU. Its purpose is to identify problems in the field of public administration and conduct research to overcome the difficulties of forming a knowledge-based economy.

The research activities of the institute are focused on three main directions:

The institute organized the testing of a new method of sparring in the process of research and teaching. The purpose of sparring is: to deepen the psychological and tactical habits of governance for finding technologies and solving problems, to increase coordination and cooperation in creating models, to integrate knowledge and to realize the skills of managing technologies related to ecology. Sparring preparatory work was carried out, the search for implementation-oriented technologies was started, trainings were held on the creation of a project participating in sparring.

The head of the institute is Doctor of Sciences, Professor Mariam Tsatsanashvili.

"Young Entrepreneurs Center" carries out educational and practical activities. It is a platform for creative, free and thought leadership. The goal of the center is to raise the level of economic and financial literacy of students in general education schools, to raise the motivation for self-realization through the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills, to understand and popularize the essence of entrepreneurial activity; raising awareness of the Faculty by organizing business conferences, business Olympiads and business competitions.

The center is headed by Professor Merab Mikelashvili.
