37 years have passed since the enthusiastic Indian youth first entered the doors of the Georgian Technical University. They were filled with youthful dreams, sadness at parting with their homeland and family, and hopes for a better future. The storms of time have changed many things in their lives. They grew up, became successful people with their own knowledge and experience.
Those 90s... were one of the most difficult periods in the history of Georgia, often without light, without heating, but never without hope. They remember the time when they bought various sweets with the money collected from returned bottles and distributed them among friends. They remember the ones who were without parents, and how they received warmth and love from Georgians, how they overcame obstacles with the knowledge they received at lectures. Perhaps there would have been something that touched their hearts, but they recollect only warmth and love.
“For us, this was not just a university, it was our second home, our Georgian family,” recalls one of them, who still had the same brilliance in his eyes as 37 years ago…”
Today, when they are successful engineers, businessmen, company owners, and professors in their own country, as well as in various countries around the world, they still remember those carefree and happy youthful days full of difficulties but happiness. They also remember how they were taught not only computer science, physics, or mathematics, but also dignity, gratitude, dedication, and hope, hope for a better future.
At this meeting, not only Georgian or English was heard, here the loudest was the sound of their heartbeat, which for 37 years has carried warmth, love and gratitude, which defined their lives and taught them that the homeland is not just the place where you were born and raised, but also the space where your heart first feels the warmth that you always seek in life and even after 37 years, you return to.... True education is not just about gaining knowledge, but also about transmitting those values called kindness, dignity and gratitude, which are the strongest feelings on which the human race stands.
