Great progress in the development of computer technology allows for the emphasis on formalized methods and algorithms as accurate and reliable tools in the investigation of complex economic processes.

Solving tasks of economic analysis and forecasting, optimal allocation of limited resources, development of effective management solutions and successful solution of a number of other real problems are unimaginable at the modern stage without the use of econometric and, in general, economic-mathematical methods and models (EMMM). Therefore, there is no doubt how relevant it is to train highly qualified specialists, especially in the fields of economics and business administration, as well as engineering. Without this, sustainable economic development of the country is impossible.

In the modern environment, laboratory studies are conducted in the computer class for students of the economics educational program, both at the bachelor's level (studies in economic process modeling and econometrics), and at the master's level (studies in econometrics II). The topics of laboratory works are diverse and a wide range of software packages are used (linear and non-linear programming, matrix games, inter-branch balance, regression-correlation analysis, etc.). Each laboratory work is conducted in an interactive mode and includes two academic hours. In the first hour, the solution of a typical problem is demonstrated, and in the second hour, the students are given the task of laboratory work. The completed work will be uploaded to the corresponding electronic journal. The laboratory helps master's and doctoral students to use appropriate software tools in research processes. The laboratory is permanently expanding the subject of laboratory work and will actively participate in scientific research projects in the near future.

Economic-mathematical methods and models (EMMM) are: solving tasks of economic analysis and forecasting, optimal allocation of limited resources, development of effective management solutions and successful solution of a number of other real problems are unimaginable at the modern stage without the use of econometric. Therefore, there is no doubt how relevant it is to train highly qualified specialists, especially in the fields of economics and business administration, as well as engineering. Without this, sustainable economic development of the country is impossible.

The aforementioned circumstances led to the establishment of the "Economic Process Modeling Laboratory" at the Engineering Economics Department of GTU in 2013. The main research objectives of the same laboratory were formulated as follows:

At the modern stage, laboratory studies are conducted in the computer class for students of both the bachelor's degree (study disciplines of economic processes modeling and econometrics) and master's degree (study discipline - econometrics II) of the economics educational program. The topics of laboratory works are diverse and a wide range of software packages are used (linear and non-linear programming, matrix games, inter-branch balance, regression-correlation analysis, etc.). Georgian Technical University

Engineering economy, media technologies

and Social Research of the Faculty of Social Sciences

work done by the Laboratory in 2022 and the first half of 2023

Report

The social research laboratory carried out its activities according to the relevant regulations and the existing plan. In particular, from October 18, 2022 to April 27, 2023, under the auspices and active participation of the Social Research Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering Economy, Media Technologies and Social Sciences of the Technical University of Georgia, a sociological study was conducted by Dr. Sofia Pachulia of the same faculty, which was dedicated to the problem of the balance of gender relations. An expert interview was conducted with academic staff, specialists and professors of social and public sciences at the Technical University of Georgia. A certain contingent of students also took part in the mentioned research. The research project was led by the learned secretary of the Academic Council, Professor Iasha (Koka) Kutubidze, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Vazha Gurgenidze, Doctor of Social Sciences, Assistant Professor - Nato Makhatadze.

As a result of the conducted research, a collective monograph was published in December 2022 - (see: Vazha Gurgenidze, Nato Makhatadze, Sofio Pachulia. "Mechanism and main factors of the evolution of gender stereotypes" (comparative systematic analysis). Tbilisi, 2022 (pg. 280). Thesis (manual) was prepared on the recommendation of the Department of Social Sciences of the Technical University of Georgia and with the support of the Laboratory of Social Studies.

In the second half of May and the beginning of June, 2022, a study was conducted within the framework of a grant project at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Economics and Business: "Using the potential of retired academic staff and problems of the post-retirement period". The Laboratory of Social Studies of the Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies and Social Sciences of the Technical University of Georgia participated in this study. As part of the research, an online survey was conducted, the research was anonymous. Target group/respondents Academic staff of GTU.

From June 2022, on the basis of cooperation, a joint sub-program of GTU and SSU was implemented within the supporting framework of the Sukhumi State University project "Students' Psychological and Social Service Platform", in which the Social Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering Economy, Media Technologies and Social Sciences took part.

Project goals:

Facilitating the creation of a platform for social and psychological support of students for higher educational institutions of Georgia on the basis of Sukhumi State University and Georgian Technical University;

  1.  Forming a psychological service model for students;
  2.  Development of professional ethics framework.

In January-March 2023, a study was conducted: "Factors of social-psychological impact of advertising on society", in which doctoral student Giorgi Javakhishvili took an active part. Within the framework of the study, a scientific measurement of the impact of advertising was made between the variables of age and education level (independent variable Y) and the influence of advertising (dependent variable X). Within the framework of the research, a quantitative research method was used - questionnaire, a total of 650 students were interviewed, 400 from the Georgian Technical University and 250 from the Tbilisi State University. Accordingly, based on the research, 6 focus groups were created, which took an active part in the concrete-sociological survey. As part of qualitative research, in-depth interviews were conducted with experts and professors. The 45-minute interview was quite productive, resulting in feedback and valuable insights that were used to develop recommendations.

To implement this goal, a temporary psycho-social consulting group was formed for students at the faculty. Professors Lia Metreveli and Roza Gaprindashvili of the Department of Social Sciences consulted university students within the framework of the project.

During the 2022 and 2023 reporting years, social research on specific issues of China-Georgia relations was carried out under the auspices of the Academic Department of Social Sciences and with the active involvement of the Social Research Laboratory. The research project was carried out under the leadership of Professor Karlo Kopaliani, Doctor of Social Sciences, Chancellor of the Georgian Technical University. Actively participated in the implementation of the project: Head of the Department of Social Sciences of GTU, Professor Iasha (Koka) Kutubidze, Professor Vazha Gurgenidze, Academic Doctor of Social Sciences, Assistant Professor Nato Makhatadze, doctors of the same faculty - Sulkhan Inaishvili and Sandro Tsotkhalashvili. The object and subject of the research was the modern social and economic policy course of Georgia, which is consistent with its geopolitical location and defines a new political action space. The purpose of the sociological survey was to study the attitude of the Georgian population towards China and study the impact of the projects implemented by Chinese companies in terms of improving the well-being of the local population. A selection of students and local residents who participated in the study was made. Based on the obtained data, it was possible to generalize the results. There was no place to impose restrictions. This circumstance significantly increased the validity of the research. The novelty of the sociological research was that no survey of Georgian students' and local population's attitude towards China had been conducted before. The first task of the research was to develop and find empirical material for studying different moods. The next step was to draw up a questionnaire on the basis of the obtained material. Finally, statistical processing and systematic conceptual analysis of the collected empirical data. Tasks completed. The goal was achieved. As a result of the mentioned research, a collective monograph was prepared and published for the printed edition. The mentioned paper was published on the recommendation of the Academic Council of the Georgian Technical University- See: Iasha (Koka) Kutubidze, Vazha Gurgenidze, Sulkhan Inashvili, Sandro Tsotkhalashvili. Priorities and main factors of China-Georgia relations". Vol.: 2022 (number of pages 616). The staff of the Social Science Department and the Social Research Laboratory were actively involved in the political and social "consulting" process.

The laboratory cooperates with similar scientific research institutions of Georgia and abroad. Based on the capabilities of the laboratory, information promotion and organization of student ideas, researches and innovations of GTU students was carried out during the reporting year. Future plans: With the support of GTU University, we plan to implement a joint international project with Professor Bashkar Das of Long Island University.
