Poetics of Ruins

Why do the ruins enchant and excite our imagination? What place do ruins take in the themes of culture? The Ruin does not abolish the meaning; on the contrary, it produces new meanings. Poetics of ruins aims at exploring the cultural problem of ruins in the context of constructum / destructum pair. The Ruins present a superposition of two transitory states: not-yet- / no-longer- -constructum.

Begining 2007 poetics of ruins is the main focus of the studio. The passion for ruins became fateful for Shota Bostanashvili as he witnessed the desrtuction of his major work The Palace of Poetry. The ruins of Shota Bostanashvili's architecture
