In accordance with the resolution of the Academic Council of the Georgian Technical University (GTU), Academician David Gurgenidze, the Rector of GTU, bestowed the title of Honorary Doctor upon Professor Stefano Ubertini, the Rector of the University of Tuscia (UNITUS) during a ceremony that underscored the longstanding and productive collaboration between the two institutions. This recognition was conferred in acknowledgment of Professor Ubertini's pivotal role in fostering scientific and technical support for Georgian students and researchers, as well as his exceptional contributions to the internationalization efforts of GTU.

The ceremony, attended by representatives from the university administration, faculty deans, students, and members of the academic council, also welcomed the presence of Fabiola Albanese, Deputy Ambassador of Italy to Georgia.

Rector Gurgenidze emphasized the enduring relationship between GTU and the University of Tuscia, highlighting the successful implementation of various projects facilitated through their close cooperation.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of GTU, Rector Gurgenidze conveyed appreciation to Professor Ubertini for his steadfast support of students engaged in exchange programs. He recognized the regular visits by representatives of the University of Tuscia, including Mr. Francesco Clarioni, and their active participation in events such as the "International Day of Science for Peace and Development" at GTU. The Rector underscored the profound friendship between the two universities, attributing its existence to the unwavering support of Professor Ubertini.

In response, Professor Stefano Ubertini conveyed his gratitude to Rector Gurgenidze and the Academic Council of GTU for the conferred honor. He expressed the significance of being recognized as an honorary doctor by a university with a century-long history. Professor Ubertini outlined the commitment to further deepen collaboration between the University of Tuscia and GTU, a commitment that was discussed and formalized during a meeting with Rector Gurgenidze in November 2022. Notably, the meeting resulted in the decision to expand collaborative efforts beyond the Rome Erasmus+ exchange program, focusing on the internationalization of scientific research.

In closing, Professor Ubertini reiterated his appreciation for the bestowed honor, underscoring the importance of the deepening collaboration between the two universities.
