Experience and traditions

The Faculty of Energy of GTU has a history of 95 years. It is a leader in the field of education and formation of professionals in the country's energy sector. Currently, more than 1400 students study at the faculty at all three levels of university education.

Educational programs

Teaching at the Faculty of Energy is carried out at 4 levels, 9 educational programs are implemented:

Professional 1. High voltage electrical technician

Bachelor's degree 1. energy and electrical engineering; 2. Electrical and electronic engineering; 3. Engineering management; 4. Energy and electrical engineering (Russian speaking)

Master's degree 1. Energy and electrical engineering; 2. Technological project management and industrial policy

Doctorate 1. Energy and electrical engineering; 2. Innovation and operations management

Since 2022, by order of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, four short-term professional training programs were prepared at the faculty, and we already have graduates from them:

  1. Installation of renewable energy source devices (installation of solar thermal systems);
  2. Installation of renewable energy source devices (installation of solar photovoltaic systems);
  3. Installation of renewable energy source devices (installation of surface geothermal and heat pump systems);
  4. Installation of renewable energy source devices (installation of small-scale biomass boilers and stoves)

Laboratories and training-research centers

The educational and scientific-research process is provided by modern educational and computer centers and laboratories established with the support of leading companies in the field of energy:

  • Training center "Schneider Electric Telasi" created by JSC "Telasi" and firm "Schneider Electric";
  • The Austrian company HERZ Armaturen, a training and research laboratory created by the joint efforts of the US International Development Agency (USAID) and the International Energy Corporation of Georgia;
  • Energy audit laboratory - training center created within the framework of the project of the modern energy-efficient technologies and education initiative (NATELI) of the US International Development Agency (USAID);
  • The PSS/E (Power System Simulator) program created in the USA was introduced at the faculty, which is distinguished by a new graphical interface and provides simulations of electrical system modes and various types, etc. the calculation of currents, as well as the analysis of static and dynamic stability;
  • San Diego House A modern laboratory of electrical engineering and electronics created with the support of the university

Exchange programs

During the study period, the student has the opportunity to participate in various international mobility programs, as well as to become the winner of the competition and to study for a semester at the leading European universities.

The field of energy includes the complexes of industrial enterprises, facilities and equipment generating, transmitting and distributing electric and thermal energy; scientific-research, design, construction-installation, management and training organizations.

Without the efficient functioning of the energy sector, the population will be deprived of all the benefits of civilization. In Georgia, the process of harnessing the potential of the energy system, maintaining it, effective functioning and its international integration continues, in which our students and graduates are involved.

Student life

The faculty has a diverse and interesting student life, full of local and international scientific conferences, student projects, cultural-cognitive and sports events.

Priority programs and scholarships

At the Faculty of Energy of GTU, a fully funded, priority undergraduate program - Energy and Electrical Engineering (Georgian) is implemented. According to the semester results, excellent students are awarded a state scholarship. Periodically, students participating in local and international conferences are encouraged with cash prizes/scholarships offered by employers.

Energy engineer - a demanding profession

The energy system of Georgia is fully staffed by specialists who graduated from the faculty. The faculty cooperates with successful business organizations and enterprises, has an advisory board composed of employers, and qualified personnel are highly paid in the country and abroad.
